I believe the statement 'Different worlds challenge the way we see ourselves' mainly refers to cultural and religious differences. All cultures have different morals and ethics and sometimes seeing these rituals in action can challenge the way in which we see ourselves. Certain individuals are brought up to believe their culture is more superior and these arrogant views lead to discrimination and racism. Many people do not take the time to see into and understand oter cultures. Todays materilaistic based western culture judges and critises other cultures on its living standards and wealth. When people adapt to this western way of life they assimilate and individuality aswell as identity is lost in the process. Clashing of cultures means different opinions on our individual views on life. Just because our clothing, food, ceremonies, customs and festivals are contrasting it does not mean one culture is more superior. No person has the right to judge dissimilar cultures.

Although humans are very different, we tend to make friendships with people who are similar to us - same beliefs, traditions, interests. We tend to live in our own sort of world and we become ignorant of other worlds that are different to us. When it comes to learning new things, reading about certain beliefs and seeing traditions that you do not know about being celebrated, the way we see ourselves is challenged. We are challenged because we learn to open our minds to new things and what you see everyday opens our eyes to different perspectives, cultures and beliefs. It is always a challenge when faced with something you don't know but by getting to know "different worlds" we are able to explore and learn new things.

In our world and society today, people are identified through many ways including their culture. It can be said that our world is based on multiculturalism. Our culture is a vital and important part of us. Our culture identifies us and by having a different culture to others we can be viewed differently, possibly through stereotypes. When we see people who have a different culture to ourselves, we may be challenged as they have diverse values and traditions to ourselves.

Our world today, is such a diverse place. People are defined by their culture, their values, religion and personal beliefs are a result of the environment that they have been bought up in. Every person believes that their culture is the best, most civilised most developed. Different worlds challenge people to learn and gain from others around the world. The challenge for people today is to, accept and gain knowledge from other cultures. To respect the values and morals that some people have.

When faced with different cultures, we often find ourselves re-evaluating who we are and what we see in front of us when it comes to a whole new world. We begin to perceive other cultures as a drastic change from our own and this can impact our state of mind as it challenges us to make the decision between accepting or denying. Through experiencing diversity we can also become insecure about our surroundings as we face a new culture. Whether we choose to accept or deny what we see before us, we find ourselves physically judging without having the full knowledge of the culture and one’s personality and values. It can be said that different worlds challenge the way we see ourselves physically and mentally as we begin to see things from a new view.
